Research Team

The study of the different species of LICHENS in CAMP JOHN HAY
( Whole day Scouting)
(Sorry but I can't publish the photos of the Lichens species that we have found in this area until our study is done.)

I reallly enjoyed measuring the diameter and circumference of the tree and also searching for the different species of Lichens present in CJH.
We are three in the group; Wenvir, Grace and I (Kzen)
This is my first time having a research with my close-classmates-friends. I hope this will be a successful research.

Wenvir (our Leader) measuring the circumference of the tree in Burn Ham Park. For a some reason. in the study of Lichens we have to follow the law/rules in getting the lichen specie from the tree.

At this Moment, Wenvir was busy searching for Lichens. He's very much interested in this field of study. Let me say "He know it all". He encourage Grace and I to do this research and so far, we've learned so much about this study.

Kzen in the woods searching for a Lichens.

Grace and I  (Kzen) measuring the circumference and diameter of the tree.

I was amazed how the  lichens attached itself in the woods and how the tree accept the lichens to become part of its body.

LUNCHBREAK @ KA - CJH
Time: 1pm.

As you can see in this map, we are done with CJH, emit Baguio City Market and Ambuclao Dam, we tried to explore in the PMA but Wenvir is the only one who go there. Next is Mines View Park.

LICHEN BIODIVERSITY

Lichens are an important and deeply fascinating study group in biology.

> The lichen relationship between fungal partner and photobiont is a model system used to explore the important role of symbiosis in structuring the evolutionary process.

> In ecology, contrasting lichens and their functional traits are used to understand the species response to environmental drivers, and the forces structuring communities.

> Lichens are functionally important in food-webs and nutrient cycles, and are a focal-group in conservation biology. Nevertheless, lichens are the domain of the specialist biologist, and remain less extensively studied than vascular plants.

> As a consequence, basic descriptive taxonomy and biogeography remain fundamentally important in most regions of the world, especially the tropics.
RBGE lichenology includes an internationally-recognised research-programme focussed on the themes of taxonomy and biogeography, ecology and conservation biology.
